Reusable Medical Devices

Contact Us

We work with leading medical device companies to develop and manufacture reusable medical products. We ensure that products can withstand the repeated demands of reprocessing, whilst continuing to meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.

Reusable medical products are reprocessed by cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation processes between each patient. These processes can expose devices to manual brushing, chemicals, heat, radiation and humidity.

Materials and technologies used in the device should be carefully considered to ensure compatibility with the chosen reprocessing method. Some examples of areas of consideration include:

  • Chemical compatibility
  • Working temperature
  • Effects of humidity
  • Surface hardness

Reprocessing methods commonly used include:

  • Steam Sterilisation (autoclave) temp: 121-132°  Humidity:  3% Moisture 97% vapour.
  • Dry Heat (oven) temp: 150°C to 170°
  • Chemical sterilant: g Hydrogen Peroxide (Acid).
  • Chemical disinfectants: e.g. Sodium Hypochlorite (alkaline).
