At Nu Perspectives we have a range of processes to produce different, high quality surface finishes. Whether it serves a functional purpose, such as prepping surfaces for gluing or creating a high quality cosmetic finish.
For matt and textured surfaces, we use a media blasting machine to ensure an even finish across the work piece. By selecting different types of blast media we are able to provide a range of different finishes. Fine cosmetic finishes are achieved by using bead blasting media, this produces a smooth satin finish whilst also removing surface imperfections. For the most aggressive requirements Aluminum Oxide grit is used, this is very effective in removing corrosion and other surface deposits as well as roughening and etching.
A good example of roughening is the preparation of surfaces for gluing. Roughening glued surfaces significantly strengthens glued joints by increasing the surface area and provides additional mechanical interlocking between the surfaces. This is particularly beneficial for metals and plastics as they often have a lower surface energy, making them much more difficult to bond. We are intimately familiar with this process, and this is part of our daily production routines.
For polished surfaces, we use rotary mops and vibratory roller polishing machines. Using these processes we are able to focus the surface finishing on a specific area for targeted polishing or we can polish a full part or product. We use various polishing mops, compounds and vibratory polishing media to achieve the desired finish on different materials. Using our vibratory roller we can polish bulk parts, making this a cost-effective solution from small to large scale production.
