We are highly experienced in the design and manufacture of Cryosurgical Devices, with extensive knowledge in both Liquid Nitrogen and Cryogenic Gas Systems. Our Engineers have worked within this sector for 30 years, developing and manufacturing innovative and high quality systems for the leading medical device companies.
We develop Liquid Nitrogen medical devices for various medical treatments, including prostate and liver cancer which are performed percutaneously (through the skin). These applications require the needle size to be as small as possible whilst still achieving the extremely low temperatures required to treat the patient successfully.
We are experienced in achieving excellent performance with small diameter needles. We can embed Innovative heat exchangers within the needle, maximising the cooling potential. Minimising heat loses where it is not needed is also essential for optimising performance, using specialist insulating materials and vacuum insulation.
Liquid Nitrogen Cryorobes are exposed to extreme temperature differences, cleaning of probes between patients is often done by steam sterilisation so temperatures can range from -196°C to 132°C. We use our specialist knowledge in this field to ensure material compatibility for these applications.
We are also knowledgeable in the design and manufacture of Liquid Nitrogen Spray devices for the treatment of skin lesions, commonly used in both medical and veterinary applications.
We develop and manufacture Gas Based Cryogenic medical devices for various medical treatments, including ophthalmic surgery, pain management and podiatry applications. Cryogenic gases such as Nitrous Oxide and Carbon Dioxide are used to achieve cooling.
When the pressure of a cryogenic gas drops the temperature also drops, to ensure a fast and deep drop in temperature the pressure drop must be instant and wide ranging. To achieve this in a cryoprobe high pressure gas is passed through a small orifice in the tip of the needle, expanding into a relatively large area which results in a pressure drop. Temperatures as low as -89°C can be achieved with Nitrous Oxide and -78°C with Carbon Dioxide.
We can manufacture cryoprobe needles from ø1mm and upwards, utilising many of our in house specialist processes. We design and manufacture single use and reusable probes and have the capabilities to design and manufacture consoles that manage the gas pressure and functional states.
At Nu Perspectives we work to all medical regulations, our supply chain management team ensure the suppliers we use operate under a quality standard regulated body and Nu Perspectives is audited under the ISO:9001 2015 certification.
